I’m Terri Sabol, an animal-loving children’s author, former teacher, world traveler, a proud Mom of two cats, and a born-and-raised Texan.

I’m the author of 17 children’s books created to entertain, educate, and inspire young readers. Every one of my stories features animals, from wise and witty Owl and his wonderfully mistaken friends to my real rescue cats, Oscar and Emmy.

My books combine humor, memorable characters, educational content, and subjects that families and teachers can continue discussing after the story ends.

The Know It Owl Series introduces children to animal facts, adaptations, habitats, geography, and conservation through humorous two-character dialogue. The books are especially fun for expressive, interactive read-alouds.

The eight-book Oscar and Emmy Series was inspired by my real rescue cats. Through their adventures, children learn about adoption, responsible pet care, veterinary visits, disaster preparation, fostering, Trap-Neuter-Return, and compassion for animals.

My stand-alone picture books—Green With Envy, Kneading a Winning Idea, and Raccoon Reunion—explore perseverance, jealousy, gratitude, confidence, anxiety, creativity, teamwork, and stepping outside your comfort zone.

FROM THE CLASSROOM TO CHILDREN’S BOOKS

Before becoming a full-time author, I taught early elementary school for nearly a decade and led science-based summer camps at the Houston Museum of Natural Science for 15 years. Those experiences still shape the way I write and present stories to children.

I travel to accredited zoos, aquariums, sanctuaries, and other wildlife organizations around the world to research the animals featured in my books. Whenever possible, I observe the animals, speak with knowledgeable professionals, and gather details that can make my stories, illustrations, and educational back matter more accurate.

I now bring my books to life through interactive author visits for students from Pre-K through 12th grade. My programs combine storytelling, science, humor, educational props, audience participation, and behind-the-scenes information about writing and publishing.
